Bishop Mark leads the Service of Light in St Andrew's Cathedral

The Diocesan Synod began with the Eucharist in St Andrew’s Cathedral and then moved to the “Bishop’s Palace” in Eden Court’s Maclean Room, which was formerly Bishop Eden’s sitting room.

The Budget and Quota were approved as was a proposal for all charges to share contributions to meet the increases in the Pension Fund.

The Ridley Covenant was discussed in the context of comments received from the four Regional Synods.

After lunch, Ms Lorna Finley, the Provincial Communications Officer gave a presentation on Press Relations issues and emphasised her willingness to advise on any press related issues.

Reports were received from the Diocesan Mission and Ministry Board, the Diocesan Administration Board and the Merkinch Project.

The Synod concluded with a Service of Light and the Litany of Saints in St Andrew’s Cathedral.

The next Diocesan Synod will take place on 6 March 2010.
