The Holy Trinity "Prep Team"
Following Holy Trinity Elgin’s stewardship campaign, a new volunteer came forward to join the “Prep Church” team. What better way to show her the ropes than to invite everyone on the rota for some refresher training?
So, last Saturday saw the team (and some interested members of the congregation) join together to learn what is involved in preparing the church ready for the Sunday Eucharist services. Although the course was designed to be very practical we did cover the reasons behind the way we do things. The ladies looked at everything from finding the correct readings to building up the chalice. They learnt about how the altar is dressed, what robes the clergy wear, and what silverware and linen to use. The more experienced members of the team were able to share some great tips on how not to lose count of the wafers going into the ciborium or how to lock the church doors when you’re not quite tall enough to reach the bolt!
The training was led by our sacristan, Kate, who was very keen to thank the team for taking on this weekly duty with such care and attention to detail.
