Society of Our Lady of Walsingham

Posted Wednesday 21 March 2012

Bishop Mark has invited Fr Nicholas Court to set up a grouping to cover the area of this Diocese, with the aim of fostering and encouraging greater devotion to Our Lord through the prayers and example of His Mother, Mary.  This will take the form of a Cell of the Society of Our Lady of Walsingham.

The aims of the Society are:
• To honour Mary, the Mother of God and to deepen faith in the Incarnation of Our Lord.
• To promote devotion to Our Lady and pilgrimage to Walsingham.
• To further, with the aid of Our Lady’s prayers, the conversion of the nations and the re-union of Christendom.
• To seek holiness of life through prayer, the scriptures and the Sacraments.

It is hoped that this Cell will meet from time to time for Mass, Rosary, Benediction, Stations of the Cross, as well as socially, and that its home will not be tied to a specific place or congregation.  It is also hoped to organise an occasional pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham in Norfolk.

But first, Fr Nicholas would like to know if there is sufficient interest in such a venture to get it going.  Please let him know (details below) if you or any members of your congregations would be interested in joining or supporting this idea.  If you would like Fr Nicholas to come and talk to your congregation or grouping about the Society of Our Lady of Walsingham, hewould be happy to do so.
